26 October 2017Looking forward as Ngāpuhi Nui Tonu ki Murihiku
Ko mātou nei ngā uri hekenga o ngā hapū o roto i a Ngāpuhi. Ahakoa kei tahaki raro i te Waipounamu nei mātou e noho ana, e mau tonu nei mātou ki tā mātou nei Ngāpuhitanga. Ko mātou nei a Ngāpuhi Whānui ki Murihiku, e tū atu rā, e mihi atu nei ki ngā iwi katoa e noho tawhiti atu i ngā haukāinga, ki a koutou hoki ngā ahikā o mātou haukāinga ki te Taitokerau, a, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa.
Our roopū ‘Ngāpuhi Whānui ki Murihiku’ has since doubled in numbers and we are now planning for our next inter-iwi/community event – Hākinakina – Iwi Tū, Iwi Ora, which will be held in early 2018. We are looking forward to organising wānanga around te reo o te kāinga, te tikanga o te kāinga hoki kia mau tonu nei mātou ki tā mātou nei Ngāpuhitanga. Thank you again Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi O Ngāpuhi for your tautoko of our roopū. We looked amazing in our Ngāpuhi t-shirts at Whare Tū. We all feel so proud of our Ngāpuhi Whānui ki Murihiku – it was a privilege and an honour to wear our t-shirts.”
