#Taiamai Day

Thanks Peter de Graaf and NZ Herald for hanging out and checking in on the 2021 Taiamai Day, when Ōhaeawai stopped. He’s a good sort you know. Always there (somewhere.)

For those whānau who are from Ōhaeawai and the surrounding district, this word will mean everything, Te Korner. A place where the world stops once a year to celebrate the centre of the universe.

A small “blink and you’ll miss it” village where the spirit of community is strong. With a ranking league club (shout out members of Taiamai Taniwha League team aye Aunty Kim), trend setting primary school, where membership is for life, from the Childcare Centre to the Church, it’s almost one of those “you had to be there” towns to really understand the passion.
