10 May 2018Ngāpuhi academic teaches engineering in China
Kia ora, I have now been teaching in China, Shijiazhuang, for the past month and have been loving the experience. I just wanted to let the Rūnanga know how much I appreciate their support. I feel very blessed to have the backing of whānau and friends while my family and I are living overseas and all that it entails.
So far, I have taught just under half a semester at Hebei University of Science and Technology and it is going smoothly. At the beginning of each lecture I teach all my students a new Māori word which has been great. All the students now greet me in Māori and are becoming more excited about engineering. I can’t wait to share more of my experiences and expect to have many more before we return home.
The conference I plan to attend at the end of May is coming quickly and I will report more about the outcome of that in the future.
Thank you again for all the support.
Ngā mihi, Mahonri Owen
