But because he’s like royalty, I also want to share some pics from a wānanga last year when Matua Rereata was in the whare at the Rūnanga. It was my first time in the presence of a tohunga like him. I tupu ia i nga tini o te hua; steeped in matauranga Māori which is everything we live and breathe about our universe; the maramataka, the life cycles of fish and birds, maara kai, and pātaka kai. He’s passionate about water preservation and brings innovative solutions based thinking to everything he does. Honestly whānau if you are ever offered time at one of his wānanga rearrange everything so you can get there.
